Our History

The Isle of Patmos Baptist Church was organized Febuary 15, 1970 under the leadership of Rev. A.C Taylor. They met in a home on Dawson Street. There were nineteen members present.

Rev. Taylor served until 1971. Rev. Christopher Griffin was then called to Pastor. The church was then metting in the Salem building on Burnett Street.

In 1972, the Lord blessed the church to build a new edifice under the leadership of Rev. Griffin, located at 4802 Billy Drive. The Isle of Patmos Baptist Church was then changed to Huntleigh Park Baptist Church due to the relocation.

In January 1980, Rev, Johnnie Guyton was called to Pastor Huntleigh Park.

The Lord gave Pastor Guyton a vision that one day our church would be in this building. Pastor Guyton kept the faith for he knew through God's sovereign will it would come to pass.

In March 1990, we were miraculously blessed by God Almight and moved to this Location at 4638 East Houston Street. At this address, the land, the building, and contents were freely given to Huntleigh Park by the former Rev. Lyndell Ferguson, and the members of the former Park View Baptist Church. Their church's board had a secret voting and All Members voted yes to give us this building valued at $250,000. A few years later the Lord God Amighty blessed us with more acres of land through the Southern Baptist Association, now known as San Antonio Baptist Association, which we are blessed to be affiliated with.

We continue to praise God for the Pastor/Teacher he has given this body of believers.

Through his teachings, Pastor Guyton prepares God's people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we reach unity in faith, and in the knowledge of the Son of God, so that his followers become mature in the word, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
